WoodGreen Community Services applauds the expansion of the Toronto Community Crisis Service (TCCS)

Toronto, ON – WoodGreen Community Services applauds Mayor Olivia Chow, the City of Toronto and the Toronto Community Crisis Service (TCCS) as it expands city-wide, offering essential, community-based mental health support to residents in need.

Since its inception, WoodGreen has actively supported the TCCS, providing critical mental health services to Torontonians facing crisis situations. As we move into the next phase of this vital program, WoodGreen is excited to formalize our role in the East Expansion, working alongside the Gerstein Crisis Centre. Through this partnership, we are committed to delivering timely access to psychotherapy services and creating stronger connections between TCCS and COSS (Crisis Outreach Service for Seniors) to ensure continuity of care for individuals in crisis.

WoodGreen recognizes the significance of the TCCS as an innovative, non-coercive response model that meets people where they are, providing trauma-informed, client-centered support without the need for police intervention. This expansion marks a crucial step forward in addressing the systemic gaps in mental health care and providing a compassionate, community-driven response to those experiencing mental health and substance use-related crises.

We thank our dedicated staff and our partners for their tireless efforts in making this expanded service a reality. WoodGreen is fully committed to continuing our work with TCCS to offer comprehensive, equitable, and accessible mental health and substance use services to our community.

About WoodGreen Community Services (woodgreen.org): WoodGreen is one of the largest social service agencies in Toronto, serving 37,000 people annually. We offer over 75 programs and services that address the social determinants affecting the health and well-being of individuals in our community.
