WoodGreen’s Community Services agency aims to alleviate and assist individuals in transitioning out of poverty by utilizing innovative approaches to address their challenges. The VSS supports 18 programs across the organization and serves thousands of clients annually, providing professional, free tax filing services to marginalized populations.
Volunteer and Student Services Program (VSS) supports more than 10 programs within WoodGreen to have the support of thousands of volunteers who give their time and talent to improve lives in their communities. For this position you will be supporting programs like the Walk-in-Counselling, and the Income Tax Clinic as well as Student Placement for the whole organization.
We also organize events as networking and rewarding opportunities for individuals and students to keep them engaged, and to ensure a high level of enthusiasm among volunteers and students.
The VSS coordinators provide comprehensive training, as well as on-the-job mentoring, ensuring you have the necessary skills and resources to excel in your role.
Responsibilities:
- Support in Volunteer recruitment and maintaining high volunteer engagement
- Report to volunteer & placement student coordinator
- Regularly monitor requests and posts of volunteer positions
- Regularly answer inquiries based on specific department policy for recruitment
- Compile reports and organize data on volunteer and student recruitment and exits
- Use of programs such as
- MS spreadsheets
- MS teams
- canva for minor graphic design on
- Power BI for lists updates and data entry
- Occasionally assist in orientations and events, sending invites and developing invitation
- Assist meeting coordination by taking minutes and following up on action items if needed.
- Answer and direct phone calls, respond to emails, and handle incoming and outgoing mail.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by volunteer coordinator to support the overall goals of the department.
Skill Requirements:
- Excellent computer and technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
- Familiarity with MS Teams and CRM systems is an asset
- Must be comfortable working with people from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Ability to respect client’s privacy and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, in the office and remotely

The VSS department provides orientation, specific handover training and other career development opportunities

Commitment:
- Must commit for at least 20-30 hours per week, 3 months commitment
