Toronto, Ont. – On Monday, February 24, WoodGreen Community Services and Michael Garron Hospital (MGH), together with the federal government and City of Toronto, will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of a new 9-unit Cluster Care site for seniors at 1080 Queen Street East.
WoodGreen’s innovative Cluster Care model provides an affordable and supportive living option for seniors who need assistance but do not require long-term care. The model combines affordable housing with 24-hour personal support services in a shared living environment, housing small groups of seniors (8-11 individuals) in private rooms with access to common areas, communal dining, and recreational spaces.
With funding from the federal government through the Rapid Housing Initiative (RHI), the City of Toronto and the Carswell Family Foundation, the 1080 Queen St. Cluster Care site has been specially designed for clients from MGH’s Memory Care unit with infrastructure to support the care of seniors with exit-seeking and responsive behaviours.
Members of the media are invited to attend.
