Today, there are planned demonstrations across the country, including here in Toronto. Historically, some similar demonstrations have unfortunately encouraged inflammatory, transphobic, and prejudiced actions targeting members of 2SLGBTQ+ communities.
We want to make it abundantly clear that WoodGreen Community Services fully stands with our trans, Two-Spirit and non-binary staff, volunteers, clients, and community members. We are committed to upholding human rights and the freedom of gender expression for everyone.
We understand that these planned demonstrations are distressing. Our staff are encouraged to reach out to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) if they require support. Additionally, if you know of someone in the community who needs support, WoodGreen is offering free walk-in counselling sessions this evening.
